Founded in late 2018, Tits Upon Tyne is a Community Interest Company with the the aim to raise awareness and funds for our causes and campaigns. We do this through bringing the punk DIY music scene to life. Since growing our audience, this platform has now become more than the odd live show.
“The first TUT was one of the best gigs we ever had the pleasure of playing.” – PRIMARY COLOURS
“A night of wholesome chaos.” – SPOTLIGHT MUSIC
What is a Community Interest Company? A community interest company is a type of company introduced by the United Kingdom government in 2005 under the Companies Act 2004, designed for social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good.
Staying true to our original calling, Tits Upon Tyne is best known for the punk shows put on throughout the year at The Cluny 2 in Ouseburn, Newcastle. So far we have raised almost £1k in aid of Breast Cancer Now but we want to broaden our horizons post COVID-19. Yes, we will continue to host our legendary live punk nights that tell breast cancer to stick it, but we also want to try some new things. This CIC is not a one trick pony!
An aim of Tits Upon Tyne is to assist aspiring artists, journalists and other creatives in the North East to showcase their work. We understand that this can be difficult for many so, utilising our live website and personalised domain, we now have weekly content uploaded to our blog by guest or resident writers. Knowing our message and identity, the topics we primarily cover is music, female empowerment and mental health. What started as something in aid of Breast Cancer has now blossomed to have multiple meanings to different people. Submissions are always welcome and able to submit at – email@example.com We don’t necessarily stick to the above themes so let your creative juices flow with reviews or feature pieces!
